Scaleway Storage

S3-compatible object storage built for sovereign European infrastructure, combining scalable capacity with straightforward lifecycle management. Handles hundreds of petabytes and billions of objects while maintaining durability and resiliency. Block storage complements the offer with SSD volumes for instances, Kubernetes, and managed databases.

Scaleway positions storage around European data sovereignty and immunity from extraterritorial laws, with ISO 27001 and HDS certifications. The object storage API works with any S3-compatible client, including aws-cli, s3cmd, and minio-cli. Standard Multi-AZ delivers 99.9% availability and 99.999999999% durability through erasure coding; infrastructure supports up to 100 Gb/s output on NVMe SSD, SSD, and HDD backends.

Key capabilities:

  • S3-compatible object storage with Standard Multi-AZ, Standard One Zone, and Glacier cold storage classes
  • Lifecycle rules for automated transitions to cold storage and expiry, plus versioning and immutability for compliance
  • Server-side encryption at rest via SSE-ONE with managed keys
  • Block storage volumes up to 15 TB each, up to 15 volumes per instance, with triple replication and snapshots
  • Terraform provider, Scaleway CLI, and integration with Veeam for backups and disaster recovery
  • Cockpit observability for storage and bucket usage metrics

Teams use object storage for archives with Glacier tiering, disaster recovery via Terraform or Veeam automation, and media or file transfer workloads requiring high throughput. AI and ML pipelines store training datasets; big data applications build scalable datalakes. Developers work with familiar S3 tooling and multipart uploads up to 5 TB per object, with optional Nginx reverse proxy setups for custom access patterns.
