AWS Timestream logo

Fully managed time-series database service purpose-built for high-volume ingestion and analytical queries at scale. It stores and analyzes trillions of time-series data points per day with a serverless architecture that auto-scales, eliminating capacity planning and infrastructure management.

Amazon Timestream offers two engines: LiveAnalytics with SQL-based access and built-in time-series functions, and Timestream for InfluxDB for workloads preferring the InfluxDB ecosystem. Both provide single-digit millisecond query response times and integrate with commonly used data pipelines and visualization tools.

Key features:

  • Serverless operation with automatic scaling for ingestion and query load
  • Storage tiering with memory for recent data and cost-optimized magnetic store for historical data
  • SQL queries with built-in time-series functions for smoothing, approximation, and interpolation
  • Integrations with AWS IoT Core, Kinesis, MSK, Telegraf, Grafana, and SageMaker
  • Encryption at rest and in transit with optional KMS customer-managed keys

Common workloads include IoT sensor analytics and industrial telemetry, DevOps and application performance monitoring, and web traffic and analytics. Developers can ingest data via AWS SDKs, Telegraf agents, or JDBC for BI tools.
